Pilot Information

Competitor guide: race days, routes and distances, entry fee, mandatory minimum equipment, food and hydration, licences and rules.

Race days

The event is scheduled for a four-day long weekend, from 5 to 8 December 2026.

Race days: the official competition will run on the two days with the best weather within that window.

Recreational flights: on the other two days, conditions permitting, group recreational flights will be organised.

Routes and distances

Routes are approximate and may change according to each day’s weather conditions.

Day 1: San Lorenzo / Las Costas Challenge

Day 2: The Lagunas Crossing

Entry fee

Maximum price: USD 100.

The organisation is actively working to secure sponsors and bring this cost down. The final figure will be confirmed closer to the date.

Mandatory minimum equipment

No pilot may start without carrying:

  • Paraglider wing
  • Harness
  • Emergency parachute
  • Satellite tracker (Spot, InReach, etc.)
  • VHF radio

Food and hydration

No packed lunch: no food will be provided. Each competitor is responsible for carrying their own food for the mountain.

Water points: a few specific points along the route will be marked for refilling water, but you are advised to start with enough reserve.

Tip: carry high-energy food (gels, nuts, bars) and a Camelbak-style hydration system.

Licences and take-off marshal

N4 pilots: an official marshal will be present at take-offs, with authority to suspend flying if conditions are not suitable for N4 level.

N5 pilots: considered autonomous, they may make their own take-off decisions under their own responsibility.
